Greek industrial turnover surged 23% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, according to data from ELSTAT (Hellenic Statistical Authority). The General Index of Industrial Turnover — covering both domestic and foreign markets — rose by 23.0% year-on-year, reversing a 9.4% decline seen in the same period a year earlier (April 2025 vs. April 2024).
Key Drivers of Growth
The overall increase was driven by strong performance across major industrial sectors and markets:
By Sector
Manufacturing: Turnover rose 23.3%, led by gains in petroleum refining and coke production; motor vehicle, trailer, and semi-trailer manufacturing; electrical equipment; leather and leather products.
Mining and Quarrying: Turnover increased 1.1%, supported by higher output in metal ore extraction and other mining and quarrying activities.
By Market
Exports: Turnover in external markets soared 59.2%, with manufacturing exports up 60.6% — especially in petroleum refining, automotive production, leather goods, and transport equipment.
Domestic Market: Turnover rose 5.1%, reflecting growth in mining and quarrying (+11.8%) and manufacturing (+5.1%). Within manufacturing, gains were strongest in electrical equipment, motor vehicles, machinery, wood products, and cork.
Notable Contrast
The sharp rebound in export-driven turnover — up nearly 60% — stands in stark contrast to the modest but steady expansion in the domestic market, highlighting Greece’s growing industrial integration into international supply chains.
