Greek Court Approves Extradition of Turkish Man Accused of Murder in Istanbul

The Council of Appeals in Thessaloniki has approved the extradition request for a 41-year-old man wanted by Turkish authorities for allegedly committing murder in the Istanbul area. During proceedings, the defendant, who is currently serving a six-year sentence in Greece for drug-related offenses, denied the murder charges against him. “I have no connection to the murder and I do not know the victim,” he stated, arguing that the accusation is politically motivated due to his involvement with the pro-Kurdish DEM party. He also mentioned participating last March in an online campaign supporting Ekrem Imamoglu. Despite his claims, the judges ruled in favor of extradition, though the accused plans to appeal the decision before the Supreme Court.
