In the early hours of Tuesday (June 17, 2025), buses departed from Tel Aviv carrying Greek nationals, including renowned artists and entrepreneurs, en route to Egypt as tensions escalated between Israel and Iran. “We left Tel Aviv around 07:30, heading towards the Egyptian border, approximately 150 kilometers away. There are about 45 of us, all Greeks—artists, singers, musicians, and businessmen,” said singer Alekos Zazopoulos in an interview with ANT1’s morning show. He added, “On the road, we experienced a missile alert and witnessed an anti-aircraft system intercepting missiles headed toward Israel.” The evacuation convoy, organized by the Greek Embassy in Tel Aviv, included famous artists such as Glykeria. She mentioned, “With as much safety as possible, we decided to leave because Israel is no longer secure.” Glykeria emphasized that her visit was purely for work, stating, “When we arrived here, there was a ceasefire; if I had known otherwise, I wouldn’t have come.” This operation underscores the challenges faced by international visitors during periods of heightened geopolitical tension.
