Greek Air Force Officer Admits Espionage for China, Recruited Others

A Greek Air Force officer was arrested on Thursday, February 5, 2026, for conducting espionage on behalf of China. The 50-year-old Squadron Leader held a critical position at the Varkiza Air Base and had access to sensitive NATO-related classified information. According to authorities, he used specialized, classified software to transmit confidential data to Chinese handlers in exchange for monetary compensation. Evidence indicates he attempted to recruit additional personnel from the Hellenic Armed Forces.
