Greece: Sustainable Development Report 2023

Having completed the strategic moves of previous years, the Group presented 2023 stable economic performance and , while following best international practices and recognised standards, continued the successful integration of criteria related to the Environment, Society, and Governance (ESG) into its business activity. The Sustainable Development Report 2023, best illustrates the commitment of ELLACTOR Group to the active contribution and substantial promotion of sustainable development, which for another year has a leading role in the operational planning of its activities. More specifically, the Group’s 2023 environmental (E) activities reflect the Group’s commitment to achieving climate neutrality and green transition. The most important actions in this area are to continue the preparation of the Road Charter for zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, as well as to complete the identification and assessment of climate risks and their potential economic impact, in line with the recommendations of the TCFD. It is also worth noting that in 2023 a report was first submitted to the independent certification body (CDP) on climate change, achieving a high score B, while the Group was committed through the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) initiative to set short-term scientifically documented emission reduction targets. The community sector (S) continues to be a strategic priority of the Group, which contributes to social well-being through its business and social activities, and responds consistently, responsibility and transparency to the needs and expectations of local and wider society. Thus, in 2023, he strengthened Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) actions, while focusing even more on actions and actions for the well-being and development of his human resources and ensuring a healthy, safe and non-discriminatory working environment. In this context, in May 2023 he signed the Charter of Diversity for Greek Enterprises, strengthening his commitment to practices that ensure respect, acceptance, and diversity of the company’s human resources, without discrimination, and designed and launched a comprehensive plan of actions for the effective updating and training of workers on sustainable development issues. At the same time, he launched the new communication identity of the CSR program entitled WHOLE LIVING, which was the main vehicle for the implementation of all the Group’s social responsibility actions and its subsidiaries, with the Group’s employees responding actively, increasing 87% volunteer hours compared to 2022. In addition, he continued to support the local economy and society, as 2023, 95% of the Group’s employees and 83% of its executives came from local communities. In 2023 the field of Governance (G) was strengthened by initiatives and actions in transparency and regulatory compliance. In this year, the Group successfully completed the assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of the Corporate Governance System, while carrying out an assessment of business partners’ risks under ESG criteria. In addition, it was certified for the Operational Continue Management System, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 22301:2019. Finally, during the year and with the aim of accelerating digital transformation and strengthening innovation, the Group invested 1.6m euros in related actions and participated in 8 research projects.
