Scientists at the Agricultural University have developed a biosensor, which can be integrated into an easy-to-use platform and offers lightning-fast detection of the surface protein-spike S1 of the SARS-CoV-2 corovirus.
As pointed out by the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens and Director of the Cell Technology Laboratory of the Department of Biotechnology, Mr. Spyros Kintzios “the results of the clinical trials show us that the method shows great reliability and in the near future will enable citizens to do the test themselves at home even with saliva samples.
Our university in collaboration with distinguished Greek scientists pioneers with the creation of highly advanced cell biosensors not only for common viruses such as influenza but also for many other dangerous infectious diseases“.
