In a closed session on June 3, 2025, Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias informed the parliamentary defense committee about the ongoing armament programs of the Armed Forces. According to sources, Dendias stated that the government has no interest in securing loans from the EU through the SAFE Regulation but will instead utilize resources and subsidies under the ReArm Europe program. Furthermore, discussions for acquiring a fourth Belharra frigate are at an advanced stage, while negotiations for two FREMM frigates, with an option for two additional units, are also progressing. This strategy underscores Greece’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities through strategic funding mechanisms. Source: OnAlert.gr
