The fire in Vilia that broke out on Monday afternoon continues to burn for the fifth day. According to the latest information from the fire brigade, the fire brigade has managed to limit a small part of the fire, which in the last hours is moving south towards Mount Kandili.
The ground forces operating with 461 firefighters, 166 vehicles, as well as the forces provided by the European Civil Protection Mechanism, but also from Poland with 143 firefighters with 46 vehicles.
It is noted that the leaders of the forces are optimistic that they will be able to control the fire, as the north-northeast winds of 2-3 Beaufort blowing in the area, direct it to a rocky and vegetation-free area, where it is easier to deal with.
