Monday 20 March, the speech of the lawyer and professor of Criminology Angel Τσιγκρή in the 12th General Lyceum of Patras, on the subject of dimensions, factors and ways of their effective prevention of school violence and bullying.
The Αχαιός a lawyer and professor of Criminology Angel Τσιγκρής -researched in-depth and highlighted the problem of school violence in our country – in his speech, inter alia, stressed that:
“It has been proven that the relaxed control in the context of the family and the lack of communication between the parent and the child, conducive to delinquency. If you are missing this item of communication with their parents, respectively, the child is indifferent to the school and is involved in groups of other juveniles, that may manifest delinquent behaviour.
Years of scientific research has shown that families of young offenders have some common characteristics. One feature is, that usually it is for poor families. However, it is not only poverty that causes crime. Very often, poverty pushes young people to overcome other peers from affluent families and to thrive.
For there to be a likelihood of committing criminal acts of minors, there needs to be a combination of poverty, criminal past of my own family and a lack of control of the parents towards the child. I mean, to coincide at the same time three factors in order to have a serious chance to declare someone a juvenile delinquent behavior.
Minors with a felony history (e.x. committing thefts, challenge events in the stadiums and damage to others ‘ property), present similar problems in the family and the school, with the result that resort to criminal groups, in order to make up for there human contact and recognition that they lack.
To prevent a future outbreak of delinquency of minors and juvenile violence in the school environment should, inter alia, to provide more opportunities for young people, to redefine the objectives of the new generation and to ensure the means to achieve them, to reduce the unemployment of young people, to integrate the minority groups of the population, to support the institutions of family and school and to build a society of cohesion and solidarity.
A fair and open society, with equal opportunities for all…”.
