Great fire in Halkidiki, in the municipality of Sithonia – Evacuation order from 112

It broke out, around 12:30 after noon on Friday (01.11.2024), in the Tripotamos area of the municipality of Sithonia, on its second leg. The fire rages, according to information from the Fire Department, on olive trees and low vegetation in the area “Xenotaphia” of New Marmara in Sithonia Chalidiki. On the spot, to extinguish the fire, powerful firefighting forces rushed. At the point 69 firefighters, two teams of hikers, 24 vehicles, operate from air two aircraft and a helicopter. A message from the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection was sent to the mobile phones of residents and visitors of Sithonia due to the fire in progress. We are optimistic that the fires will be brought under control soon,” Mr Mallins said. A helicopter and an aircraft are provided by air, while the firefighting operation also includes water carriers. Speaking to ERT3, the mayor of Sithonia Giannis Mallins, openly upset, stated that the fire is large and is near a residential area, and reported that after an hour and a half they had not seen air in.
