Government Sources Deny Supplying Ukraine with Patriot Systems

According to a Reuters news agency source, Greece and Germany have been mentioned as potential suppliers of missile systems to Ukraine in an effort by Western allies to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. The recent devastating Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian territory have pushed allies to expedite negotiations for the delivery of missile systems ahead of the upcoming NATO Summit at the end of June. As reported today (05.05.2025), citing an anonymous source, Greece and Germany are among the countries being considered by Western allies to supply Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. Ukraine is seeking more air defense missile systems, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy telling CBS News last month that his government was ready to purchase 10 U.S.-made Patriots, which are crucial for intercepting Russian ballistic missiles. Currently, Ukraine has seven operational Patriot systems, with another expected from Israel, according to reports citing four American officers. Since early 2025, Israel has begun phasing out older Patriot models while supplying Ukraine with significant quantities of ammunition. However, governmental sources deny any issue regarding Greece supplying Patriot systems to Ukraine, refuting claims made in previous publications.
