The government’s representative, Paulos Marinakis, was asked whether Deputy President Christos Papadimitriou should resign. The atmosphere within the government is tense, and according to reports, Mr. Papadimitriou may not be in his position by the end of the day. Speaking on OPEN, Paulos Marinakis stated, among other things: ‘There are two conclusions: the government did not intervene at any point because it had nothing to hide. For two months, we were cornered and accused of cover-ups. The second conclusion is that serious questions have indeed arisen about the behavior of Mr. Papadimitriou.’ Regarding whether he should resign, Marinakis replied: ‘The questions are reasonable; it’s not my decision. His behavior, handling, interviews, and extroversion raise legitimate questions and demands.’ Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis also commented: ‘I believe he has fallen into contradictions.’ Speaking on SKAI radio, Hatzidakis said: ‘In very few words: there was a report from EODASAAM, except for the bullet point, it is a serious report and aligns with the proposals/suggestions of the European Commission for a modern and safe railway.’ He added: ‘On the issue of the bullet, the deputy president of EODASAAM recently positioned himself in a way that cannot be described as coherent, creating a problem.’
