Government Plan to Lease Hospital Wings to Insurance Companies and Curb Private Clinic Practices

in

The government is reportedly considering a plan to lease surplus building sections of public hospitals to insurance companies, according to credible sources from newsit.gr. This initiative aims not only at renting out these spaces but also renovating them to significantly improve health system facilities. The model has been successfully implemented in Turkey. By adopting this approach, insurance companies could lower their health insurance premiums below current levels and avoid scenarios that might lead to financial strain due to rising compensation costs from private clinics. Additionally, the second part of the plan involves imposing a protocol on private clinics to limit unnecessary medical tests and hospital stays, thereby reducing the compensation amounts paid by insurance companies and stabilizing health insurance rates.
