Since ancient times, according to Pausanias, the river Neda set the borders of Ilia and Messinia…
In a large part of the beautiful Neda crosses a ravine with lush vegetation, offering stunning images of nature, while in the course of forming and waterfalls with the largest to be found near Figaleia and has a height of about fifty meters.
The springs of the Neda are identified on the mount Lykaio near the village of Stone on the boundaries of the prefectures of Messinia and Arcadia. The river travels 32 kilometers and flows into the Ionian sea in the beautiful Olive tree, close to Kyparissia.
The name of the river is attributed to the nymph Neda, in which, according to legend, gave Rhea the newborn Zeus by calling the deity of the waters to protect him from the man of Saturn.

The river gorge is full of plane trees, arbutus, fig, and agriobelanidies, composing a landscape of unique beauty which do you think will sprout out nymphs.
From the beautiful trails to the waterfalls of the Neda is the one that passes by the village Κοπανάκι and ascends the mountain, through landscapes immersed in the green and picturesque villages.
