The prizes to be awarded on Sunday January 5 will make “podal” at its top film events for 2025. The first award ceremony in Hollywood for 2025 will open with the annual Golden Globes and with films such as “Wicked”, “The Brutalist” and “Emilia Perez” competing to draw awards ahead of the Oscars. CORVERSE Timote Salame, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Angelina Jolie are among those artists who are expected to get some award during the ceremony that comedian Nikki Glazer will first present. The show will be broadcast live from CBS television network and Paramount+ subscription service. The Spanish-language musical “Emilia Perez” and the post-war epic “The Brutalist” will precede the night’s nominations. ADVERSE Star of “The Brutalist” is Adrian Brody, who plays a survivor of the Holocaust who flees to the United States to pursue the American Dream. The 3.5-hour film is considered a favourite for the first prize, that of the Best Dramatic Film. Among its competitors is “The Clave” dealing with the process of promotion of new {all and two films in which Salame stars – “A Complete Unknown”, where he plays legendary Bob Dylan, and the science fiction “Dune- Part II’. Unlike Oscars, musicals and comedies compete in a different category in the Golden Globes. Candidates in this area include the major “Wicked” and the romantic comedy “Anora”. “Anora” – a traditional comedy – concerns a sex worker who marries the son of a Russian oligarch, while “The Substance” with Demi Moore, who plays a celebrity who erases her star and seeks the source of youth, is actually a horror film, as Scott Feinberg of Hollywood Reporter comments. He predicts that “The Brutalist” or “Conclave” will extract the award of a better drama film and as he explains it is difficult to predict the winner in the category of comedy because candidates differ greatly from one another. The film “Emilia Perez” is a musical-thriller that tells the story of a Mexican drug baron, who changes gender from man to woman, while “Wicked” is the prequel of “Mage of Oz”, a metaphor from the popular Broadway show. Winners of the Golden Spheres are selected by 334 art reporting reporters from 85 countries compared to about 9,000 voters who choose Oscars.
