Global Sumud Flotilla: Ship Reaches Gaza Waters Amid International Outcry Over Interceptions

Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, has sparked strong international reactions from countries whose citizens are aboard the vessels. Several nations have condemned Israel’s actions as violations of international law, while governments including Greece—whose four ships with Greek nationals were part of the flotilla—have stated they are closely monitoring the situation, offering support to their citizens, and demanding safe delivery of aid to Gaza. It stressed that humanitarian aid must be safely delivered through ground organizations and called on Israel to immediately lift restrictions to allow UN and NGOs to provide food, medicine, and essential supplies. Australia confirmed knowledge of activist detentions by Israeli forces and offered consular assistance, urging all parties to respect international law and ensure passenger safety. Spain summoned Israel’s top envoy in Madrid after the incident, noting 65 Spanish citizens were on board. Turkey labeled Israel’s actions a ‘terrorist act’ endangering civilians and launched a judicial investigation into the detention of 24 Turkish nationals.
