A British woman asks to be awarded to Giselle Pelico, the woman from whom she was raped by her husband and dozens of other men. “No one deserves it more than she,” says British woman, Katherine Meyer, who organizes an online collection of signatures with a request to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Giselle Pelic, the woman – symbol of France. CORVERSE “It is difficult to imagine some form of violence that is considered a greater challenge to peace than sexual violence,” Catherine Meyer says in this text that appeared on Change.org on December 20. One day before, the trial of her ex-husband Peliko and his 50 co-conspirators had been completed, with their conviction in perennial sittings. The translation of the text into French was posted yesterday on the website and within a few hours it collected more than 32,000 signatures. “No one deserves it more than Giselle Pelico. To ensure that the Nobel Committee and the few persons entitled to propose candidates, take action,” Meyer added. Catherine Meyer was a co-founder of the Women’s Equality Party, but it broke up last year. He has written many books, including the biography of King Charles, when he was still a successor to the throne, in 2015. Giselle Peliko “was able to break the fog of misinformation, denying her anonymity to attend the perpetrators’ trial and testify”, Meyer noted. Peliko thus became a symbol, due to the courage she displayed towards her rapists. As filed at the trial, her ex-husband drugged her and invited dozens of men to rape her for a decade. The 72-year-old Peliko refused to conduct the closed-door trial “so that shame would change sides”, she said. The case of Mazan’s “rapies” is now part of the list of his great history of feminism. The court sentenced her former husband to the maximum penalty – 20 years in prison. Many of his co-defendants have appealed the decision.
