Giorgos Amyra: From the “divorce” with the River to the Mitsotakis government

The reshuffle carried out by Kyriakos Mitsotakis was announced at noon on Monday 4 January 2021. One of the new faces in the government is Giorgos Amyra, who was appointed Deputy Minister for Environmental Protection. 
Mr. Amyra was elected MP for Athens II with Potami in the January 2015 elections and again in the September 2015 elections. On 1 March 2016 he was appointed parliamentary representative of Potamos, replacing Charis Theocharis.

On 10 April he resigned and handed over his parliamentary seat to Potami, with the seat occupied by runner-up Antigone Lyberakis. On the same day his candidacy was announced with New Democracy in the 2019 European elections, in which he ranked ninth with 175,821 votes and was not elected.
Two months later, in the parliamentary elections, he was elected MP for Ioannina with the “blue camp”.
