Germany: Ticket Inspector’s Father Suffers Heart Attack After Son’s Fatal Assault

Serkán S., a 36-year-old German railway ticket inspector of Turkish origin, died from severe head injuries inflicted by a 26-year-old Greek man during a violent altercation on a train. According to Bild, the inspector was repeatedly struck in the head after passengers—including the suspect and three other Greeks—demanded to be let off at the next station. The suspect, a permanent resident of Luxembourg, reportedly escalated violently when asked to comply with the routine ticket check. The tragedy triggered a fatal heart attack in Serkán’s father, who collapsed upon hearing the news and underwent emergency bypass surgery. Serkán leaves behind two young sons, aged 11 and 13. This incident is part of a rising trend of violence against transit staff across Germany, including recent assaults in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hamburg.
