Germany: Large delays in airports due to damage to electronic controls

Serious problems and delays in much of it causes damage to the police electronic control system. According to Bild, on Friday afternoon (03/01/2024) it was not possible to check travellers from countries outside the Schengen area, while electronic controls are now being carried out manually, requiring much more time at many airports in Germany. CORVERSE Federal Police spokesman responsible for Frankfurt Airport told BILD: “Our colleagues must do by hand many things the system has done so far. For now we are still doing it.” At the same time the public network WDR reported long queues in the Düsseldorf airport security zone, where many passengers waited over two hours. It is currently not possible to enter Germany outside the Schengen area, broadcast the network, citing information from the airport.
