In its memoirs, which will be published in more than 30 countries today (26.11. 24), Merkel writes that the idea of brake debt (p. in Germany) is the right one, in order not to burden “unjustified future generations”. “However, in order to avoid struggles for distribution in society and to give justice to changes in the age structure of the population, the debt brake must be reformed so that higher debts can be assumed for future investments”. It is noted that the issue of brake debt reform in Germany led to the collapse of the tripartite coalition, as Social Democrat Chancellor Olaf Salts advocated, while Liberal HYPOIC, Christian Lindner opposed. With regard to Friedrich Murch, CDU leader, who leads the polls ahead of the early elections on 23 February 2025, he has left open the possibility of reforming the brake debt. At the same time, market cycles, both in Germany and internationally, are in favour, proposing an increase in public lending by EUR 200 – 400 billion over the next 5 years.
