Today (Tuesday, July 1, 2025) marks the hottest day of the year so far in Germany, with temperatures reaching up to 38 degrees Celsius in western and southwestern regions. Tomorrow is expected to be even hotter. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the Rhine region in western Germany could see temperatures rise as high as 38°C. Across the rest of the country, maximum temperatures are projected between 30 and 35 degrees, with only coastal and mountainous areas staying below 30°C.

Meteorologists have also warned of high humidity levels during the night. Eastern and southeastern parts of the country have been placed under the highest danger level for forest fires due to forecasted stormy winds and even possible tornadoes.

The peak of the heatwave is expected tomorrow, with the DWD predicting maximum temperatures ranging from 34 to 38°C. Independent meteorologists have not ruled out the possibility of breaking Germany’s all-time temperature record of 41.2°C, recorded in July 2019 in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Local authorities are taking special precautions against the heat, opening air-conditioned public spaces and urging vulnerable groups to remain indoors in cool environments. Experts advise avoiding outdoor physical activity, while many schools are adjusting schedules to ensure students return home before the hottest hours of the day.
