Germany: All trains stopped due to the strike of the train drivers

The strike is taking place amid growing demand for rail services following the easing of coronavirus restrictions and the culmination of the summer school holidays.

At stations across Germany, there were passengers waiting for the delayed trains.

Deutsche Bahn spokesman Achim Strauss said the company was trying to make one of four scheduled long-haul routes and have at least one service every two hours between major cities.

The German trade union GDL will decide next week if and when it will continue its strike at Deutsche Bahn after the collapse of wage negotiations with the state-owned company, its leader Klaus Weselski said today.
