Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis launched a sharp verbal attack on former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, branding him “the most corrupt politician of the post-junta era.” He publicly renewed allegations that Tsipras accepted financial inducements to support the passage of revised Criminal Codes — claims rooted in earlier statements by former prosecutor Stavros Kontonis.
‘He’s Playing the Chinese’
Georgiadis mocked Tsipras’ response to the accusations, saying: “Yesterday, Mr. Tsipras played the ‘Chinese’ — trying with some clever trick to sidestep the obvious fact that he cannot file a criminal complaint against me. Because if he did, he’d have to explain why the Criminal Codes were changed and why certain people didn’t end up in prison. He’s playing the Chinese — even though I called him a thief.”
Personal Jabs and Political Challenge
Georgiadis added sarcastically: “What Mr. Tsipras didn’t say when he was informed about my remarks was that he was in Sardinia, enjoying himself and smoking his cigar — funded, apparently, by those same funds. He’s doing just fine financially — even found a nice villa for just €500 a month.”
He concluded with a direct challenge: “I’m telling you: drop the talk about your own integrity — and that of others — and let’s speak politics instead.”
