Regarding recent developments in the trial of his colleague, Petros Filippidis, and the intense exchange he recently had with Spyros Bibilas inside the courtroom, George Christodoulou made new statements to TV crews on Friday morning (04-07-2025).
‘I want to make a brief parenthesis. When Mrs. Vana Barmpa came forward to speak in favor of Filippidis, given the condition she was in, she had some difficulties. She paused, restarted, and at some point, the president asked and they brought her a chair so she could sit on the stand. She continued saying what needed to be said. After she finished and came down, Mr. Bibilas told her, ‘What did you come here today for?’ To a woman, in the state she was in, he made that remark,’ emphasized George Christodoulou initially.
‘I was standing next to him and I told him, ‘Aren’t you ashamed?’ and his reply was, ‘You should be ashamed.’ I said to him, ‘Please, come outside so I can talk to you’ and he replied, ‘I won’t come out, not in such an abrupt way.’ That’s when I told him, ‘Come outside so I can…’
‘I believe the prosecutor’s recommendation regarding Petros Filippidis was very appropriate. Anyone with even a little sense in their head understands exactly what has happened,’ concluded George Christodoulou in his latest television statements.
