The Palestinian emergency services announced today (May 29, 2025) that 44 people were killed in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip. Among them, 23 lost their lives when a house was hit in the central part of the Burij refugee camp. According to Mohammed Al-Mughrabi, an official with the emergency services, ’44 people were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since midnight.’ He added that ’23 people died, others were injured, and several are missing after an Israeli strike on a home’ in the central Gaza Strip’s Burij refugee camp. Two more deaths and multiple injuries were reported near an American aid center along the Morag axis in southern Gaza. The Israeli military stated it is investigating these incidents. Images from the French Press Agency show Palestinians searching through the rubble of a destroyed building in Al-Burij. The Israeli army claims to have targeted ‘dozens of terrorist targets across the Gaza Strip,’ including militant structures, observation posts, and tunnels. Earlier this month, Israel escalated its military campaign against Gaza following an unprecedented attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which left 1,218 Israelis dead, mostly civilians. Over 54,249 Palestinians, mainly civilians, have been killed in Israel’s retaliatory campaign, according to data from the Hamas Health Ministry, verified by the United Nations.
