The Palestinian Authority’s Health Minister declared that 29 children and elderly individuals have lost their lives due to starvation in the past few days, with thousands more at risk due to the blockade of humanitarian aid. On May 22, 2025, flour, bread, and other food supplies will begin reaching some of Gaza’s most vulnerable residents; however, it is not nearly enough to compensate for the shortages caused by the aid blockade. “In the last two days alone, we’ve lost 29 children,” stated Palestinian Health Minister Mazen Abu Ramadhan to reporters, describing them as deaths linked to famine. He clarified that this number includes both children and elderly people. Commenting on previous statements from the UN relief chief to the BBC that 14,000 infants could die without assistance, he said, “The figure of 14,000 is very realistic—it may even underestimate the scale.” Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued evacuation orders in Arabic for 14 neighborhoods in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, including the Jabalia refugee camp, stating that they are conducting intense operations in these areas within the Palestinian enclave. According to civil defense services providing emergency assistance, at least 52 people were killed today across the Gaza Strip in Israeli airstrikes.
