Twelve people lost their lives in an attack targeting a school where displaced individuals had sought refuge in Khan Younis, located in the southern part of the Palestinian enclave, according to an announcement by the Gaza Strip’s Civil Defense service on Wednesday (04.06.25). ‘At least 12 people, including many children and women, were killed in a drone strike by Israel this morning against a tent for displaced people near al-Hinawi school, where displaced families have taken shelter,’ stated Mahmoud Basal, the representative of the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip. Four additional people were killed in Israeli strikes in other areas of Gaza, he added. The Israeli army did not immediately respond to an AFP request for comment. Yesterday, Tuesday, the Israeli military dropped leaflets warning residents of the city to move westward as forces planned operations against Hamas and other militants. Since October 7, 2023, over 54,510 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in Israeli military operations following the Hamas attack on Israel.
