Gavdos: Tourists Discover Decomposed Body Near the Shore

In an advanced state of decomposition, walkers discovered a body between Sarakiniko and Karave on Monday afternoon (June 23, 2025). According to zarpanews.gr, tourists found the remains and alerted authorities. The Harbor Office, Police, Fire Department, and a representative from the Gavdos Municipality arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Reports suggest that it may be a migrant from a shipwreck that occurred on the island in December. The body will be transferred to Chania for a forensic examination.
