Gang of “public employees” trafficked drugs in Patras – How the circuit operated

A firefighter, two brothers working in the district and the other in its university, an employee of the EKAB and another 30 identified individuals who were not arrested (due to the passing of the autophore), are accused of participating in the “gang of civil servants” who were moving. The members of the criminal organization, according to the broadcast presented by the newsit.gr, talked to each other using passwords to determine the kind and quantity of drugs they were dealing with in Patras, while his conversations were also through social media. As described in the case forward: “About the end of May our Agency received a complaint about drug trafficking in the region of Patras. Further research included the application of specific investigative actions, namely the lifting of the confidentiality of the communications of the persons involved and the recording of activity or other events outside of residence. From the advocacy, association and evaluation (time-signal) of telephone communications that took place between the persons involved, combined with other preliminary material (recording of activity outside of residence, affidavits, physical surveillance, searches in the Office’s electronic databases), a hierarchically structured, operational drug trafficking group emerged.” How the criminal organization acted “The activity of the organization was continuous, at least since the month of May 2024, becoming a key source for one of the members of the organization, only source of their incomes. Its members were associated with related relationships and close friendships, which strengthened, to the ultimate extent, faith and submission to the will of the group they had created. During their telephone conversations, they were particularly careful as they rarely reported directly the kind of drug they wanted to purchase and move, while avoiding reporting the quantities and the cash rewards. In addition, members talked to each other using passwords to determine the type and quantity of drugs, as well as using social networking applications. The leader of the criminal organization was the responsible mind of this, was responsible for storing drugs, dividing them into different quantities and sharing them with other members for further trafficking. He also traded, on behalf of the organisation, quantities of drugs to clients – users, taking special self-protection measures, avoiding directly mentioning the quantity and type of drug, defining himself the meeting point with the client – user of the organisation and urging them to be consistent in meeting time in order for the purchase to take place immediately, thereby preventing him from being identified by the prosecution authorities. An Albanian vital member of the criminal organisation was responsible for the role of the main supplier of drugs. He was not working and his involvement in drugs was his main source of income.”
