Tensions flared on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a star unveiling ceremony for renowned actress Gal Gadot. Pro-Palestinian protesters, opposing her Israeli background, interrupted the event with chants and banners criticizing her home country. Dozens of demonstrators gathered on Tuesday (March 18, 2025), attempting to overshadow what should have been a celebratory day for Gadot. According to The Guardian, the protest was also fueled by her two-year service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which regularly engages in conflicts against Palestinians in Gaza. Videos and photos from the scene showed protesters holding signs such as ‘Long Live Palestine,’ ‘Heroes Fight Like Palestinians,’ and ‘No Other Land Won an Oscar,’ referencing Gadot’s accolades. Some protesters even verbally attacked Gadot directly, shouting ‘shame on Gal Gadot.’ The ceremony was delayed by approximately 15 minutes until police arrived at the scene after one protester stole an Israeli flag. Since the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on civilians in Israel, Gadot has openly supported her homeland through speeches and social media posts. She expressed her shock at the hatred surrounding the conflict and criticized media bias, stating that she felt compelled to speak out for humanity and the hostages involved. This stance has sparked significant backlash against the actress, with many accusing Israel of being responsible for the violent clashes in Gaza.
