The promising performances of Georgios Vagiannidis this season have caught the attention of top European clubs. According to the English website ‘footballinsider247.com’, both Fulham and Sporting Lisbon have expressed interest in acquiring the Greek right-back. The London-based Fulham, managed by Marco Silva, have been keen on signing Vagiannidis since January and are expected to make a move in the summer transfer window, especially with Kenji Tete’s contract expiring soon. Vagiannidis is reportedly at the top of their list.
Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon is also in the race, reportedly preparing a €10 million offer for the Greek international. Earlier this year, Ajax, Zenit, and Botafogo had made offers that were rejected by Vagiannidis, who opted to stay with Panathinaikos. As per the report, while several teams like Ajax, Zenit, and Botafogo showed interest earlier this year, Sporting aims to take the lead by submitting an official bid this summer.
Fulham remains strong in its pursuit and could submit an official proposal during the summer transfer period. Vagiannidis, 23, originally from Panathinaikos’ academy, was briefly signed by Inter Milan in 2020 before returning to his original club a year later. With impressive displays, he has become a sought-after talent in Europe.
