According to the Deputy Minister of Trade and Consumer Protection, Sotiris Anagnostopoulos, speaking on ertnews, fuel prices in Greece may increase by two to three cents per liter if the price of Brent oil rises by 10% since the start of the military conflict. The official also addressed unjustified price hikes in fuels, emphasizing that continuous inspections have been effective as “this phenomenon does not seem to be widespread.” He added that no one would risk illegal practices knowing that checks are strict and swift. Furthermore, the issue of excessive profits observed at the onset of the conflict between Israel and Iran has been mitigated. Anagnostopoulos highlighted the price differences between island and mainland gas stations, noting this is a persistent trend. He concluded by stating that future oil prices remain unpredictable, influenced not only by the ongoing conflict but also by the significantly increased supply from Arab states, with other nations ready to support global oil supply.
