A rescue operation took place south of Crete by Frontex forces on Wednesday evening (04.06.2025). According to harbor sources, a vessel carrying 38 migrants was located by a Frontex ship, 37 nautical miles south of the Good Harbors of Heraklion in Crete. The migrants are being transferred to the port of Agia Galini in Rethymno. Sea conditions are challenging as winds of up to 4 Beaufort strength, blowing from the northwest, have complicated the operation. In the morning, the identification process will begin, followed by coordination for their transfer to Attica at the first reception center.
