An unbelievable incident occurred early Saturday morning (10.5.25) in the sea area, 20 nautical miles northwest of Preveza, when a 68-year-old French captain of a tourist vessel flying the Greek flag was attacked with a knife by one of the passengers, also a French national. The captain sustained injuries to his hand, chest, and face. Fortunately, there was a doctor on board who provided immediate first aid until the arrival of a patrol boat from the Harbor Police, which rushed to the open sea area of Preveza following notification from the Unified Rescue Coordination Center (URCC). The 68-year-old was transferred to Preveza harbor and then taken by an ambulance to Preveza General Hospital for further medical care. Meanwhile, the patrol boat returned and escorted the tourist vessel back to the harbor, where two members of the Harbor Police had already boarded to detain the alleged perpetrator. The case is being investigated by the Preveza Port Authority, which is conducting a preliminary inquiry into the circumstances of the incident.
