By September 15, 2025, freelancers and self-employed individuals have the opportunity to challenge their tax assessment evidence and cancel the income certificate assigned by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) for the previous year’s usage, according to ertnews. The myBusinessSupport platform of AADE is now operational for submitting appeals against the income certificate. Appeals can be made in two ways: due to objective circumstances like illness, military service, or other emergencies that limited professional activity and income, or through a tax audit if actual incomes were lower than assessed. Last year, approximately 4,600 professionals followed this process. To start, taxpayers must submit their tax declaration and complete the specific questionnaire on myBusinessSupport. It’s mandatory to fill in codes 443-444 in the E1 form. Within two months after the submission deadline, detailed information about personal and family financial status must be provided. During the tax audit, all declared details must be substantiated with evidence. The tax administration retains the right to determine income using any available data or indirect techniques and may extend the audit to prior years if discrepancies arise. The audit must conclude within twelve months, issuing a corrective tax determination act, confirming any additional taxes owed or refunding overpayments.
