France, the UK, and Canada are prepared to recognize a Palestinian state, emphasized French Prime Minister François Bayrou. According to Bayrou, the movement for recognizing a Palestinian state, as envisioned by France, the UK, and Canada, will not stop. Speaking at the National Assembly, he mentioned that for the first time, three major countries—France, the UK, and Canada—have agreed to oppose what is happening in the Gaza Strip and will collectively recognize the state of Palestine. This movement, he added, will not cease. The leaders of France, the UK, and Canada warned on Monday (19/05/2025) that they would not stand idly by against Israel’s ‘shocking actions’ in Gaza and threatened to take ‘specific measures’ if the military operation does not halt and humanitarian aid is not allowed. Bayrou also reminded everyone about the events of October 7, 2023, emphasizing that Hamas initiated this conflict. Earlier, Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that Paris is determined to recognize the state of Palestine because it is in the interest of Palestinians and Israel’s security. Recognition may occur during an international conference between June 17-20 aimed at reinvigorating the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia.
