France Seizes Record 10 Tons of Cocaine in Dunkirk Port – Minister Warns of ‘White Tsunami’

A record quantity of 10 tons of cocaine was seized in the port of Dunkirk, specifically in a container at the harbor. French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau referred to the situation as a “white tsunami.” Almost 10 tons of cocaine were intercepted by customs authorities over the weekend (March 2-3, 2025). According to the French News Agency citing a source close to the investigation, the drugs were hidden inside a shipping container. Experts suggest that even large-scale seizures have minimal impact on drug trafficking and represent only a small fraction of illegal substances entering the country. In 2024, French authorities seized 53.5 tons of cocaine, an increase of 130% compared to 2023. Minister Retailleau warned that France is facing a ‘flood’ of narcotics and a ‘white tsunami’.
