France is taking steps to prepare its citizens for potential threats by distributing a survival guide to every household. The initiative aims to equip residents with detailed instructions on how to prepare for and respond to impending dangers, including armed conflicts, health crises, natural disasters, and even nuclear threats, as reported by The Guardian. The planned 20-page booklet, pending approval from French Prime Minister François Bayrou, will be sent out before summer. It will cover scenarios such as armed conflict, health emergencies, natural calamities, and nuclear risks. Divided into three sections, the manual will provide advice on protecting oneself and others, actions to take in case of an impending threat, emergency contact numbers, radio channels, and guidance on what to do during a nuclear attack. It will also include information on community defense, encouraging citizens to join reserve units or firefighting groups. Additionally, French media reports suggest the government will recommend assembling a survival kit containing at least six liters of water, food, batteries, a flashlight, and basic medical supplies like paracetamol, compresses, and saline solution, according to Europe 1 Radio. A spokesperson for the prime minister’s office stated that the goal is to ensure citizen resilience against any type of crisis—natural, technological, cyber-related, or security-based. This announcement comes after President Emmanuel Macron emphasized accelerating and increasing orders for Rafale fighter jets to bolster national air defense, saying, ‘if we want to avoid war.’ Earlier this month, Macron urged France and Europe to prepare for the ‘Russian threat’ and the possibility of U.S. withdrawal from NATO. ‘I want to believe the U.S. will remain by our side, but we must be ready if they don’t,’ he remarked, adding, ‘Russia has become a threat to France and Europe.’
