Christof Rouzia was judged today by her court, guilty of sexual abuse of actress Adele Enell, when she was a minor, in one of the first cases of the #MeToo movement revealed in French cinema. The well-known director, who denies charges against him, will avoid prison. The court imposed a four-year sentence, of which both were suspended, both with the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet. Director is obliged to pay actress Adele Emel compensation of 15,000 euros for mental distress and 20,000 euros for the multi-annual psychological support it had to receive. CORVERSE Director’s lawyer, Fanny Colleen, told reporters that her client continues to argue that he is innocent and will appeal against the decision. Enell, openly nervous before the verdict, did not react to her announcement. Not even Ruzia, who avoided looking at her, reacted to the court’s decision. Many French film stars were in the courtroom to hear the verdict. 35-year-old Enell, an award-winning film actress such as “Portrait of a Lady On Fire”, accused Ruzias of being abused since she was 12 to 15 years old, during and after filming the film “The Devils”. The actress told the interrogators that the 36-year-old then director often went home, where she touched her between her legs and caressed her chest. He said that his actions affected her school performance and caused her suicidal thoughts. The actress first publicly accused him in 2019 of exercising power over her, isolated her from her family and production members, while at the same time forced her and her co-star Vincent Rotier to film exhausting scenes with which they felt uncomfortable.
