No more revelations about Giselle’s Pelic that has become a symbol of rape victims in and resigned bravely from her anonymity, refusing to conduct the closed-door trial to “change the shame side”. Only 26 years old is the youngest of 50 men charged with the rape of Giselle who was drugged by her husband, Dominique, at their home in France and even committed miserable sexual abuse the day his daughter was born. 26-year-old Joan Kwai is included in the six men examined today (23.09.2024) in court, along with: Andy Rodriguez, 37, Hugues Malago, 39, Husamettin Dogan, 43 years old, Mathieu Dartus, 53 years old, as well as Fabien Sotton, 39. Judge Roger Arata decided last week that the 50 defendants would be divided into four groups and testifying to groups of six. Kwai, the first of the defendants he testified today, was born in Guyana, but moved to the Vacluse region of France as a teenager. He was only 23 years old when he was arrested in the camp he served. According to her he first went to the Pelico house in November 2019, the day his daughter came into the world. He went a second time and admitted to going again, for the third time, but Dominique canceled his visit at the last minute. Before the interrogators, he initially stated that he had not wondered if Giselle had consented. But then faced with the photos, he admitted that she was unconscious and that it was rape. At the beginning of the trial he said he “recognizes the facts, but not intent”. The retired electrician, Dominique Pelico, is accused of drugging his unsuspecting wife, for nearly ten years, in order for men calling home online to rape and abuse her. Fourteen of the men on trial have admitted their participation in the horrible affair, while the rest deny the charges claiming that they were “teached as part of a conspiracy” by the couple. A total of 18 men have been detained and since the trial began Giselle has received a warm welcome with applause, when she enters the court building in Avignon, southern France. Those who are out of jail on bail, including a carpenter, a builder, a retired firefighter, a city employee, a prison officer, and a journalist, were treated with disapproval and ridicule. The trial is expected to continue until December.
