French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Sunday evening (February 9, 2025) an investment of €109 billion over the coming years in artificial intelligence. “This is the equivalent for France to what the U.S. announced with ‘Stargate,’” said Macron ahead of the international summit on AI starting Monday (February 10, 2025) in Paris. Earlier in January, U.S. President Donald Trump announced investments of $500 billion in AI as part of the ‘Stargate’ initiative. Previously, the French government revealed that the country will collaborate with eight countries, unions, and companies to launch an initiative for ‘general-interest AI’ under the leadership of 11 pioneers in this technology.
