With the breath cut the planet is watching the trial for the unprecedented abuse case and which has frozen it, where a man Dominique Pelicot drugged his wife, Gisele Pelicot, for a decade, and invited unknown men to rape her. The trial in the southern city of Avignon, France expected to be completed in December, includes charges of rape against him and 50 other men he allegedly recruited over the Internet to abuse his wife. Her lawyers say she was so heavily drugged she did not realize the abuse and rape she suffered over the years. Gisele Pelicot, attends the trial in France that is expected to be completed in December and asked to be open to the public, as are their daughter and two sons. And as if all of this were not enough, during the hearing Tuesday, the Avignon court heard how naked photographs of Pelicot’s daughter – using the pseudonym Caroline Darian, were found on his computer in an envelope called “My daughter naked”. The woman burst into tears and came out of the courtroom with her two brothers and her lawyer, but returned 20 minutes later. In the photographs she seemed to be dressed in some of her mother’s clothes, but she was partly naked. In 2022 the girl wrote the book “Et J’ai Cesse de T’appeler Papa” (And I stopped calling you Dad) about the impact of the discovery of the shocking case on the family. The evil husband allegedly recruited at least 50 men in a chat room called “without her knowing it”, in a case that has shocked France. Family lawyer Antoine Kami told reporters after the completion of the day process: “Even if they do not discover anything new, as they know the case, it was particularly exhausting this morning”. The 71-year-old had been first arrested in September 2020 for filming under women’s skirts at a supermarket. A computer file marked “abuses” seized by his home contained more than 20,000 photos and videos from the attacks, according to Le Monde. Crimes allegedly began in 2011. What prohibited his wife’s rapists Pelicot is said to have cleaned his wife’s body after the attacks and placed strict restrictions on male aspiring rapists so that she would not wake up during her abuse: not to wear perfumes, not to smell cigarette and have bathed with hot water. The other 50 defendants include a firefighter, a journalist and a prison guard. Each of them faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years if found guilty. Men were of all ages and all social strata, French media reported, adding that some admitted their guilt, while others said they believed the wife pretended to be asleep. The trial, which will include videos from rapes, is expected to last until December. Lawyer Stefan Babóneau told the French media that he wants to show “that shame must change sides”.
