Formula 1: Discussions for a Grand Prix in Bangkok

in

Just last week, it was announced that Stefano Domenicali will remain in his position as CEO of Formula 1 for at least five more years, creating new opportunities for growth. Immediately after the Australian Grand Prix last Sunday, Domenicali traveled to Thailand for discussions with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who presented plans for a city Grand Prix in Bangkok. “I can’t wait to continue our discussions in the coming months,” said Domenicali. Thailand, under the previous prime minister Srettha Thavisin, had shown interest, with Thavisin even attending last year’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and discussing with Domenicali. “I think what we can do is focus on areas we believe represent the future for Formula 1,” he stated during the Australian Grand Prix on Sky Sports F1. The former Ferrari boss hinted last year at the United States Grand Prix that Argentina could return to the Formula 1 calendar, while noting in Australia that there is interest from Europe, Africa, and South America, with Rwanda aiming to host a race.
