Foods you should not cook in a pot

Speed is a useful cooking vessel, located in every home and helps us speed up cooking time. The cooker closes hermetically not allowing steam or liquids to escape during boiling. CORVERSE However, there are some foods to avoid putting into the pot, choosing alternative ways of cooking, such as in the oven or pot. Vegetables Asparagus, broccoli and grasses are some examples of green vegetables that are best cooked in a pot. If you put vegetables in a speed cooker, then they will lose their nutrients and it is more likely that you will bypass them, due to increased pressure and water vapor during boiling. CORVERSE Most vegetables, after all, need about ten minutes of boiling and are ready to be served on the plate. Pasta and rice During the cooking process, several times try the food to see if it is ready. The cooker may be a quick way to cook food, however, we cannot achieve the desired result about pasta, which is ready in a few minutes. And, of course, for al dente pasta (in Italian, tooth) important role plays the right boiling time, which means they must not have a hard texture. Also, you should never put rice in the pot, since it contains starch, so it can spill quickly. Meat the chicken The deliciousness of the meat hides in a reaction that occurs only during cooking in a quiet fire, known as the Maillard reaction. When we put the meat in the oven, then it keeps its moisture and becomes juicy inside, since the proteins are dissipated similarly. At the same time, the meat turns pink and acquires the characteristic caramelized texture. The cooker may offer a faster result, however, meat will not have this delicious and “golden” crust on its surface. The same goes for chicken, of course. Seafood Fish (e.g. cod, tongue) have a low fat content in relation to meat. Also, fish protein molecules are smaller and are more easily broken down, so they should be cooked in the oven or steam. In addition, fish take a little time to cook, as there is a possibility of ‘drying’. The speed cooker, however, and the intense heat inside the vessel can break down their proteins very quickly. The ideal choice to cook fish (e.g. salmon) is to place them in parchment paper. In this way, the fish will keep its liquids and become delicious, without the risk of overcooked it. In addition, you can add spices and vegetables into the parchment paper to take off its taste. Also, avoid putting seafood in the pot, such as scallops or shrimp. Lentils Before boiling the beans, we usually soak them from the night before to soften and boil faster. Most legumes contain anti-nutrients, such as lexins and tannins, which can affect the absorption of nutrients. Drainage allows these compounds to be broken down and facilitates the absorption of calcium, iron and zinc. However, certain legumes, such as lentils, do not need to be soaked because of their size. However, we should not cook them in the pot as they are about to dissolve and lose their nutrients.
