A fatal alligator attack has shocked Florida after a 31-year-old woman was killed while swimming in the Econlockhatchee River near Orlando. Brittany Clark was swimming with her boyfriend and best friend on Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2026, when a large alligator—approximately 12 feet long—surged from the water and bit her arm, severing it completely.
Tragic Outcome Amid Emergency Response
Clark was rushed to the hospital, but she died en route from severe injuries sustained during the attack. According to officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the group had been hiking along the riverbank and decided to stop for a swim in shallow water—a decision that turned tragic in seconds.
“They were hiking and simply stopped to go for a swim,” said FWC spokesperson Chad Weber at a press conference on Monday, June 29, 2026. “The alligator bit her on both arms. Her boyfriend made the 911 call. He tried to pull her from the animal’s mouth—but she died from her injuries on the way to the hospital.”
Disturbing 911 Call Reveals Desperation
A harrowing 911 recording captured the panic at the scene. A woman described Clark’s condition in horror: “It’s awful… one arm is completely severed, and the other is barely hanging on.” Moments later, a man shouted urgently to responders: “Her condition is extremely critical—please hurry. She’s losing massive amounts of blood; we need to stop the bleeding now.”
Despite immediate efforts by witnesses and first responders, Clark could not be saved.
