First Public Appearance of Khamenei Since Iran-Israel War Began

Iran’s supreme leader appeared at a religious event on Saturday (05/07/2025), according to a video broadcast by the country’s state media. This is the first public appearance of Ali Khamenei since the ceasefire following the 12-day aerial conflict between Iran and Israel that began on June 24. In the video, Ayatollah Khamenei is seen greeting worshippers at a mosque during a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the death of Imam Hussein at the Battle of Karbala, known as Ashura, an important day for Shiite Muslims. The last appearance of Ayatollah Khamenei was on June 18 through a recorded speech during the conflict with Israel.
