Fires in Greece: Prosecutorial intervention as there are suspicions of organized arson

Mr. Pliotas requests that the competent public prosecutor of the Supreme Court be informed about the progress of the investigations.

The prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Vassilis Pliotas, ordered the Athens Appellate Prosecutor and the Director of the Attica Security Directorate to conduct an investigation into the existence of an organized arson plan.

The prosecutor of the Supreme Court speaks of “an excessive number of fires, of unusual intensity and extent, which have occurred in recent days”, whose “synchronization” in their manifestation, creates reasonable suspicions of deliberate organized criminal activity and not only simple, random occurrence of negligent behavior incidents “.

Mr. Pliotas with his order asks judicial and police authorities to gather all the evidence for “the existence of an organized plan and central planning for joint action of arsonists-members of a criminal organization.
