Firefighter Helicopter Pilot’s Brave Maneuver in Karystos Fire Captured on Video

The battle against the wildfire that broke out on Sunday evening (March 24, 2025) in Karystos was nothing short of titanic. Despite the fire spreading dangerously close to homes by morning, firefighters managed to bring it under control. A video documentary released by eviaonline captures the dramatic moment when a helicopter pilot executes a daring maneuver inside a ravine to extinguish the flames. The footage is breathtaking. With immense courage and self-sacrifice, the helicopter pilot navigates through strong winds and thick smoke, descending into the ravine to douse every spark. Watch the documentary video here. In total, 75 firefighters, 5 ground teams, and 20 vehicles were deployed for the firefighting operation in Karystos. Helicopters also took to the skies at dawn. Residents received a message from 112 advising them to ‘remain on standby.’ Although the fire is currently subdued, firefighters remain on-site due to the high risk of rekindling caused by winds.
