Fire: Very high risk for tomorrow in 12 areas

In “yellow” alarm for tomorrow (27.08.2024) many areas of Greece, as its map proves. In Attica, Boeotia, Fthiotida, Evia, Korinthia, Argolida, Evros, Xanthi, Halkidiki, Cyclades, Sporades and islands of the North Aegean, there will be a very high risk for a fire, states political protection. The General Secretariat of Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection has informed the competent service departments involved, as well as the Regions and municipalities of the above areas, to be in increased political protection readiness in order to address immediately any incidents of fires. Attention is given to civil protection for tomorrow. The General Secretariat of Civil Protection recommends that citizens be especially careful and avoid actions in the countryside that can cause a fire from negligence, such as burning dry grasses and branches or cleaning residues, the use of spark-induced machinery such as saws, welding devices, using outdoor grills, smoking bees, throwing lit cigarettes, etc. It is also recalled that during the anti-pyrotic period the burning of fields is prohibited. In the event of a fire being detected, citizens are requested to immediately notify the Fire Department of the call number 199.
